Cozy Noodle & Rice in Chicago

5-star food, 1-star service. Really excellent, fresh Asian/Thai preparation and many menu options. Their "spicy" actually IS, which we appreciate. The service staff, however, is really young (we assume family), surly and inattentive. We finished two out of our three visits actually uncomfortable and discussing the amateurish waitstaff. But the delicious food! Be forewarned and ready to be proactive with their people, and you'll be fine. Lunch menu/food highly recommended.

I enjoyed Cozy Noodle until today when the servers were extremely sassy when we simply requested wine glasses instead of shot glasses. I subsequently found two dark hairs in my food, which I assume was placed there as sabotage. Very disappointing because I had liked this place!!

Food is good and prices are fair but the service is horrible!!! Specifically, the female hostess is SO rude. We went there for dinner last night. Her tone was harsh. Her responses to us were short. And she even rolled her eyes at us!! You can find good Thai food for the same price, at another restaurant where they actually seem happy to see you.Also BEWARE. They charge 18% gratuity automatically for all parties, regardless of size. It’s written in small print on the back of their menu. Probably explains why the service is so bad. They get tipped anyway, regardless of how they treat their customers.....we definitely will not be back.

My negative experience was due entirely to the service.- RUDE WAITSTAFF - When someone in our group asked for vegan options the waitress immediately became defensive and began lecturing our group about how she doesn't visit the factories where their sauces are produced. She claimed that nothing on the menu was OK for this guest, not even soy sauce. - SHADY BILLING - When the check came neither copy included an itemized receipt, though there was a line for a tip. When I asked for an itemized receipt I noticed that a 20% gratuity charge had already been included. They are clearly hoping that people will double tip.

The food was terrible and service was even worse... especially the female hostess is really rude! but u will automatically pay 18% service charge! Dont visit here you will have bad experience!

Nice place, I usually order from here.The decor is really cool with all kinds of stuff hanging on the wall (see photos) which make a very "cozy" feeling.The service is ok and the food is mostly great (some dishes are better than others).This place doesn't serve alcohol, so if you want alcohol bring it yourself (BYOB).

Charged a 20 percent gratuity for a a table of 4 which was called a service charge but then was not indicated on non itemized credit card receipt which contained spot for gratuity

Terrible service. There are plenty space in restaurant but only allow two of us seat in a narrow small table. It's a terrible experience having dinner in such a narrow space. The food is just so so. Won't come any more.

Their food is good, but the last time only two of us ate dinner we were charged gratuity automatically. It was called something else like a service fee, so check your bill. I ended up not giving gratuity because of it. I would have given more, but if you're going to make me give a tip and then suggest I give more, I don't think so. I went back for lunch another day and didn't see this fee. That server got a 22 percent tip.

BYOB, nice place in downtown Evanston. The store has an assortment of toys, license plates from all over the USA, etc. Definitely lives up to its name of Cozy! I'd highly reccomend. Staff is great! A lot of old antiques that will definitely bring back memories from your childhood!

At the moment you step in this place team give you a comfortable feeling. Very warm stuff, it is a happy restaurant to to go out with friends or with your date. very good food, creative chef, good cost and courteous service. Warmly recommended.

I've been here many times and it is definitely a gem of a place. The only place in the area that can make pad thai and other dishes without fish sauce (I called 5 other thai restaurants in the area and they all have a premade sauce with fish sauce). Cozy can make most, I think, dishes without fish sauce so I've had their pad thai and red curry. Delicious. But my current favorite is the panang curry noodles. Service was nice. Server (actually in photo) was attentive, friendly and accommodating. Some reviewers complain about rudeness and I haven't experienced it.Decor is great, too.

Horrible customer service and it was my 1st time in. The lady that was working the front was just rude. To make matters worse the food was spoiled tasted funny but I still proceeded. Figured my taste buds were just off.. no it was the preparation! I got food poisoning! Will never go back again

The service is regularly speedy, good character, very welcoming employees. I will return here again when I get here.

Wonderful food. My go-to order is shrimp pot stickers, Mongolian beef, and Thai iced coffee. Pricey, but worth it.

Despite having mix ups with the menu selection, the food was plentiful, but a little on the salty side.

Not much for flavor, unless you like cardboard. Service is OK, Watch out for hidden charges. Spent over the $10.00 mark to use Credit card. But was charged $2.50 for a Service Charge. That is BS, Will NOT GO BACK.

A genuine 5 star experience. We have lived in Roger’s Park for 1.5 years and we order Thai/Chinese/Asian weekly. We have tried many different restaurants and this one surpassed them all. Food:Incredible. I ordered a rice dish, a curry dish, and a noodle dish. Each quickly became my favorite.Service: Excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. Environment: I have never entered any Asian restaurant anywhere that was decorated my so uniquely and completely clean. It was like being in a clever museum store.Serious hygiene / sanitary measures in place. One item came out incorrectly and they quickly took it and made a new dish without any hassle or fuss. Note: gratuity which is listed as “service charge” is automatically added to your check if you dine in.

Pretty cool decorations and food is great. Maybe I don't sound enthusiastic enough but this is I'm my top 5 places to eat when I visit Evanston.

Popular Thai restaurant with quick service, fair prices and good food.

Had The worst Pad Thai I have ever had. Tasteless, bland and gooey. The staff is the surliest I have ever experienced and the attitude you could cut with a knife. The difference between this branch of Cozy Noodle and the one is Chicago is night and day. I will never return to this place despite loving Cozy Noodle in general. They need new staff and consistency in the kitchen.

It pains me to write this but I do enjoy your food. I placed an order to be delivered through Postmates and it was never delivered I have yet to figure out if I’m an to be refunded. And the only response was to contact postmates. I left my review and was not contacted nor reassured if was was going to get a refund or not. Cozy pick your delivery personal better. And do not offer a delivery service that is literally going out of business.

Dishonest practices. We reserved a table for 15 people, but when we went one of us misspoke and said there would be 18 of us, despite the reservation saying 15. Consequently they charged us an additional $24 for the 3 “missing” people.

I have a few favorite dishes at Cozy's and I like the atmosphere. If you go with work buddies, they will not split the check.

Just picked up curb side and our dinner for four was delicious. Flavorful and fresh, good service under these difficult conditions and especially liked the restaurant’s donation to food support to frontline healthcare workers in Evanston. We have always loved this place - best Thai in the area for sure.

Worst service! The female server/manager is rude. We asked for a different table away from the door which had cold air coming in. She was rude and said the heater is on. The restaurant had many tables that were unoccupied and could’ve easily given us another table. The food was not warmed up either. Management should take some action as I see lot of people in the reviews having similar opinion about her.

Great food for a reasonable price. Good place for a quick lunch. Unfortunately, they have the most unfriendly staff of any place I've been to in Evanston. It's enough to make me not want to return.

I highly recommend the Thai Basil dish. It’s THE best. The orange chicken & crab rangoon are also favorites!!

Service sucks and the manager is even worse. My family had dinner there and we brought our own beverages(soft drinks) and the manager charged us for that. They never explain what kind of BYOB we had to bring.

This spot is worth a visit. They have big portions for reasonable rates. Constantly clean and with great mood. Would recommend to others.

Nice little restaurant with a good atmosphere and a couple of nice collections on the wall. The staff was professional but wasn't really in for a social talk. You can bring your own beverages.However, the most important thing: the food was very good.

The food is terrrific and the prices are very reasonable. One of my favorite Thai restaurants of all time. Panang chicken is the best version around. Service is friendly and efficient. Family owned and operated and it shows.

The only good thing about this place is the decorations. If you like eating decorations, this is the place for you. Staff are very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We were seated and served water, but we ended up leaving before looking at the menu because we did not want to patronize an establishment with such rude behavior.

We had a genuinely good experience, the food was good and the decor was stunning. Any restaurant can do an accent wall but this one had a dozen tin robots and a room covered with license plates. Portillo's interior designers got nothing on them.

While the is decent the young waitstaff especially the female is borderline rude. I came in at 7pm on a Thursday night by myself, the side room which is nice and quiet I was told was closed even though it had people in it. Then was sat next to loud college table. Then I got the check and after they ran my credit card I noticed the total was different. They charge 18% service fee on every check regardless of table size. They try and hide it and ask on credit card slip to add another tip. To me extremely rude. Not returning.

Food was good but had the same automatic service fee added to my bill as other reviewers. If you charge a service fee, okay whatever, but clearly show it on the receipt instead of not giving back an itemized receipt. The under the table nature of it was not okay.
